Alex Sheehan is a third year Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) Candidate at Tulane University, Learning Experience to Advance Practice (LEAP) Scholar with the Justice Community Overdose Innovation Network (JCOIN), Health Policy Research Scholar at John’s Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and Behavioral Health Program Manager with the Health Care Authority of Washington state. In his professional role, Alex supports the growth of numerous statewide programs and initiatives that increase equitable access to mental and behavioral health programs. Academically, his research focuses on the impacts of lived experience with mental illness on state-level mental and behavioral health policy innovation and sustainability. In August 2024, he co-founded the Global Network of Health Equity Doctoral Scholars whose mission is to empower doctoral and post-doctoral scholars to connect, collaborate, and support one another in advancing health equity through bridging academic scholarship, professional experience, and lived expertise. Outside his professional and academic endeavors, Alex enjoys playing softball and pickleball, playing video games, and spending time with his wife and animals in the outdoors!
