Story of Impact: Finding Belonging and Connection Through Creative Expression
“Club means a space of community… it’s somewhere where I can get out a lot of my feelings and creative energies, take a break from schoolwork, and actually put my creative juices toward something more personal.”
Ghost is a member of The PATHfinder Club, our arts-based support club for youth impacted by incarceration, detention, and deportation. She has gained skills and confidence to pursue new opportunities, including publication in our two most recent anthologies. Watch Ghost perform “Nervous System,” her published work in Home and Away: Poetry, Stories & Art.
Support Spotlight: Community Street Mural
In partnership with Portland Bureau of Transportation and City Repair, we supported Parkrose High School students in an eight-week creative placemaking project in 2024. This initiative provided a healing space for students personally affected by gun violence, incarceration, detention, and deportation to design and implement a commemorative street mural on NE 131st between Shaver and Prescott in Northeast Portland.
