Story of Impact: Healing and Wellness for the Entire Family Through Parenting Inside Out
Zyrus participated in our Parenting Inside Out (PIO) program at Oregon State Correctional Institution. The father of four, including a recently born son, learned that his child custody case was dismissed two weeks into the program. He committed fully to transforming how he saw himself as a parent. He found value in every class, from emotion regulation exercises to connecting with peers on similar journeys.
By completing PIO, Zyrus gained resilience that enabled the reunification of his family. Holding his newborn son for the first time at his PIO graduation, Zyrus said, “It was a soul tie—when you make eye contact with your kid for the first time.”
