Announcing a New Chapter for The PATHfinder Club
Uniting Under One Name for Greater Impact
A new chapter is beginning for our arts-based support clubs for youth impacted by incarceration, detention, and deportation. Today, we’re proud to share that we are uniting all of our clubs under one name: The PATHfinder Club (TPC)!

Our Roots: POPS the Club
Our story began in 2013 with POPS the Club (Pain of the Prison System), which was founded at Venice High School by Amy Friedman and Dennis Danziger. Inspired by their lived experiences, they created a space to help young people overcome the stigma of having an incarcerated loved one.
They began publishing the creative work of Club Members in annual anthologies. These books are healing for families, relished by students from elementary school through college, used in prisons and detention centers as inspiration, and praised by librarians, educators, and literary journals.
Inspired by the work of POPS the Club, The Pathfinder Network launched The PATHfinder Club in 2022. "PATH" in PATHfinder stands for "paving a trail of hope," a vision informed by more than three decades of work serving individuals and families right where they are at every point of the criminal justice system and beyond.
To strengthen and scale its impact, POPS the Club became part of The Pathfinder Network in early 2023. As our clubs continue to grow, we have decided to bring together all existing clubs under one name as we enter this new chapter: The PATHfinder Club!
